Who we are
FamilyHub is a product of The Family Project. We built it to help families stay connected, aligned, and moving in the same direction. If you have any question about this policy or your data, email us at evjay.a@gmail.com and a real person will answer.
What we collect
We collect only what the product needs to work for your family:
- Account information — your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in readable form.
- Family information you enter — family member names, birthdates, and roles, plus any notes you choose to add about a member; family values, vision, and mission statements; issues you log; relationship assessments; wellness observations; rhythms, rituals, and activities.
- Usage information — basic activity events (logins and feature usage, including the names of items you create) that help us understand how the product is working and keep it healthy.
- Feedback you send us — messages sent through the in-app feedback button, along with the page you sent them from.
Children's information
FamilyHub is built for parents. Children and teens cannot create or hold accounts — they exist in FamilyHub only as family members that you, the parent or guardian, choose to add. Any information you enter about your children is visible only to your family inside the app and exists solely so the product can serve your family. We do not market to children, and we do not use children's information for anything beyond running the product for you.
How we use your information
We use your information to run FamilyHub for your family — that's it. We do not sell your data, and there are no ads inside FamilyHub.
AI-assisted features
Some features offer optional AI writing help — for example, rephrasing an issue description or suggesting a mission statement. When you use one of these features, the text you submit is sent to Anthropic (our AI provider) to generate the suggestion, then returned to you. Only that text goes — never your children's names, health notes, observations, or assessments. These features are rate-limited, optional, and only process text you explicitly submit to them. We do not use them to analyze your family in the background.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of trusted providers to run FamilyHub:
- Stripe — payment processing, if you ever purchase something. We never see or store your card number.
- Anthropic — powers the optional AI writing features described above.
- Resend — sends transactional email like invitations and password resets.
- Heroku / Amazon Web Services — hosting and database infrastructure, in the United States.
- jsDelivr — a content delivery network that serves one of the JavaScript libraries the app runs on.
Data retention and deletion
Your data stays as long as your account does. You can delete your account — or your entire family and all of its data — at any time from Settings. Deletion is real: removing a family removes its members, issues, assessments, observations, and history. Two things sit outside that: feedback messages you send us are kept to improve the product, and if you gave us your email through the free assessment — or created an account but never set up a family — we may keep that email address on its own so we can follow up. Email us and we'll remove either.
Security
All traffic to FamilyHub is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Your family's written content — issues, notes about members, wellness observations, relationship assessments, and your vision — is also encrypted at rest in the database. Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text. Login attempts are rate-limited and accounts lock temporarily after repeated failed attempts. The database is backed up daily. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your family's information with the care we'd want for our own.
Your choices
If you gave us your email before signing up, we may occasionally send a short email about what FamilyHub does — never more than a handful, each with a one-click unsubscribe link. You can view and update most of your family's information directly in the app at any time. Wellness observations and relationship assessments are kept as a record once saved; if you need one removed, email us. You can delete your account or family from Settings. If you want a copy of your data, or want us to delete something you can't reach yourself, email us and we'll take care of it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the update here with a new date at the top. We'll never quietly change what we do with your family's data.
